Soar pays commercial pilots up to $150 an hourto fly regional routes in Cessnas, Bonanzas, and Cirrus SR22s. Pick the flights you want. Skip the ones you don’t. Fly for a Part 135 air carrier without giving up the flexibility you built your schedule around.

The pay
Paid by aircraft, not by seniority.
Every Soar pilot is paid the same hourly rate for the aircraft they’re flying — no seniority ladder, no hour minimums to hit a higher tier. Fly what you’re qualified for. Get paid the same as the pilot who’s been here longer.

When a return charter is booked and you’re waiting at the destination airport, wait pay kicks in automatically. Capped at four hours per trip so you always know what you’re signing up for.
The job

Soar pilots are agents of a Part 135 air carrier (certification in acquisition), not independent contractors flying under their own authority. That’s a meaningful difference for how the job works — and for the trust the flying public places in you.

Requirements
What you need to fly for us.
The minimums below are the entry bar, not the ceiling — most approved Soar pilots exceed them meaningfully. If you’re close on hours or have a specific edge case, apply anyway and we’ll take a look.
- FAA Commercial ASEL (Airplane Single-Engine Land) minimum
- Instrument Rating
- Minimum 500 hours total time
- Clean driving record
- Personable, professional attitude with strangers
- Willingness to pass Soar’s three-person approval process
The process
Apply to first flight, typically under two weeks.
Apply online
Two-minute form up top. Give us your name, phone, cert level, hours, and how often you’re looking to fly. We hear back to every applicant.
FAA + background check
We pull your record against the FAA airman registry and run a standard background + driving check. Most applicants clear this stage within a business day.
Virtual interview
Twenty minutes with our Chief Pilot. Not a whiteboard, not a stress test — a real conversation about your flying experience and how you handle riders.
Three-person approval
Chief Pilot, Director of Operations, and Director of Maintenance each sign off independently. No one person clears you to fly. Once you’re approved, you get a Soar pilot ID and access to the app.
Check ride + first trip
One in-aircraft check ride with a designated Soar examiner, then you’re on the schedule. Most pilots fly their first paid trip within two weeks of applying.
Operations
Part 135. Real aircraft. Real dispatch.
Every Soar flight operates under FAA Part 135 (certification in acquisition), which means: real duty-time rules, real dispatch authority, real aircraft airworthiness verification before every flight. You’re not the sole judge on any of it.
The fleet is Cessna 172s and 182s, Piper Cherokees, Warriors, and Arrows, Cirrus SR20s and SR22s, and Beechcraft Bonanzas. Well-maintained, well-equipped, and being progressively wrapped in Soar corporate livery.
